Feedback for 5.56 and 5.45 weapon durability changes
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

This decision to make said weapon durability change is super confusing to a lot of players as to why the devs thought it needed to be changed (Check comments on WOBO's most recent video from 5/20/2025 titled New Sniper King or TopeREC's post on X). My argument is that we were already cleaning our weapons/suppressors far too often. This 38% nerf to durability is absolutely brutal and I would argue that weapons and even the metal suppressors needed a buff all around, since all of the suppressors (minus handgun suppressors) are gas tier loot only. Imagine spending hours/days gathering the NBC gear required to get an M4A1 just for it to go from Worn state to damaged/badly damaged state after 1 gunfight with more than one player. In my opinion this isn't adding any fun to DayZ, let alone realism that everyone seems to be searching for in DayZ. Please reconsider this change as a majority of people (that I've encountered) have nothing good to say about this change.

Its an awful change. Completely unnecessary.

This change is very good and could be even more than 38%

I have 10k hours in this game and hardlyever had my weapon delpete from normal shooting
You should also implement that the faster you shoot (spray and pray) the damage increases :)

Just be sure to unify it for all weapons, all weapons should run down quicker, tundra? It will never get worn; 20-30 shots would be perfect to damage it a bit in terms of gameplay

@Traqu nah, anything that makes durability worse on anything is a terrible change. all the durability changes do is screw over the solo player/players who don't base and just have infinite cleaning kits readily available. most weapons already deplete after having 3 full mags ran through them. literally the entire community is against this change and it's not just streamers either.

I don't know what kind of player would want to be repairing guns after their couple first firefights. This is just a tidious mechanic but necessary to give weapons that degrade value. It should be decreased not increased.

No just no, this would create some weird prefire metagame I can already see it.

Ah, just what the game needs for rifles to turn into waterguns that break after a box of ammunition. They should hold value as rifles that don't jam and thus be super reliable.

Guns never get worn lol
You usually will die before you fire 3 full mags

what? they most definitely get worn and too quickly. most guns you find in the CLE are either worn or damaged and in need of immediate repair unless you want to risk jamming them.

i guess you talking about pvp. i use all of my guns for infected and use hundred of rounds per day. this changes would mean i would have to fill my inventory with weapon cleaning kits which are too rare anyways. I guess carrying 50% of my inventory with cleaning kits sounds like a fun and intended game mechanic, no?
