TrackIR limited head turning radius when zooming in
Awaiting internal Testing, NormalPublic

Description

Game Version: 1.3.0.130
Modded: NO

With TrackIR character has limited head turning radius when zooming in. With freelook you have same head movement range with and without zoom but when using TrackIR and zooming in, head movement range reduces a lot. It is especially noticeable in vehicles.

I’m experiencing the same issue with TrackIR. The head movement range reduces a lot when zooming in, especially in vehicles. Hope it gets fixed soon

I've noticed this same issue since the 1.3 update. It wasn't happening beforehand, and it doesn't happen with freelook. When using the freelook key and freelooking with the mouse (even with TrackIR running), freelook rotation seems scaled correctly regardless of zoom level. When trying to freelook with TrackIR, rotation is scaled correctly while at normal zoom, but seems to be at about 0.5x scale when zoomed in (in other words, you can use TrackIR to turn your character's head 90 degrees to the right, then when you hold down the zoom button, the view will zoom in and your character's head will only be turned 45 degrees to the right - returning to 90 degrees when releasing the zoom in button).

I'm having the same issue. If I turn my head using trackIR and then zoom in with focus, the camera position changes as shown in the second video above. Turn your head to a specific point, usually further away from center screen the more obvious the issue becomes. Then zoom in with focus/right click, and your zoom will be in a different location than where you were looking. Zoom out/release focus and your camera will go back to it's original location. Specifically very inconvenient when flying helicopters, looking around and zooming in to try and spot infantry.

Comments in discord from the user 12gabriel3 report this happening in experimental, but not live, as of 3/16/2025 11:53 AM. It is now happening on live.

This video was taken in game master single player with mods installed, but is 100% happening and reproduceable in vanilla. Every time I zoom in or zoom out and the camera snaps to a new location, it is being done automatically by the game, not by me.
