If you stand outside a vehicle, you have the option to reach in and engage/disengage the handbrake.
I would also like to be able to switch the lights on/off or start/stop the engine in the same way, without having to get back into the drivers seat.
Stand by the drivers seat with door open. You can use the handbrake, but not the other controls for lights or engine. This would be useful.
For instance, having deployed a Mobile Command Unit, I realised that I left the lights on and the engine running. I can't now get in to turn them off because the unit is already deployed, so I have to un-deploy it, get in, turn off the engine and lights, get out, and redeploy the MCU. It would be easier, and more realistic to just open the door, reach in and flick the switches.
