Another hacker/cheater on official server, please do something
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hi, so this is probably the 10th time I got killed by another hacker/cheater that can see through walls, and this time he seemingly even traveled through walls (although I didn't see anybody so he was invisible), as my room was locked and there was no way in, it was on the 1st floor, yet he killed me with one shot through all my armor and gear. This happened in Polyana, March 13th, around 7PM UTC time. I managed to go back, all other dead players remains were still in the town, yet my body and absolutely everything I had was simply deleted. I mean deleted. Cleaned up perfectly.
WHATS BATTLEYE FOR???? It does nothing, I've seen cheaters on every server I joined!!
Please do something already about the hackers/cheaters!! Running around for 5 hours collecting all that gear just to get killed by a cheater.. for like the 10th time.. and it doesn't seem to end.

Server - Dayz EU - DE 1420
Server IP 195.82.158.114
Server Port - 11000

DO. SOMETHING. PLEASE.

Edit 03.22.2024 - Uhh.. so is anything being done? I see a bunch of these tasks marked as "resolved" yet no reply, no update, nothing.
About 10 minutes ago I ran into another wall hacker, this time I was able to log out before he got into my room.
DayZ EU - DE 1363
IP - 195.82.158.69
Server Port - 11200

As you can see hackers are on every server, at the rate I'm running into them I'd say about 10-15% of players are using some kind of wall hacking/cheating.

Unfortunately, they don't do anything. They always answer the same phrase about the investigation, but it's a lie. I was killed by a hacker on this server six months ago, 3 months ago, 1 month ago... Nothing has changed. There are a lot of complaints about DayZ EU DE-1420. A possible solution to this problem is not to play on official servers, but I constantly watch a lot online on them. Honestly, this raises questions for me.

From my personal experience, it used to be slightly worse a few months back, I remember being killed by cheaters even at Berezino, which doesn't happen now for some reason. I did die to a cheater several times at the NWAF though.

Either way the cheater problem still is there in one way or another, and Bohemia indeed doesn't seem to do much if anything about it. I've heard from a server admin that apparently when you shoot a bullet, the bullet path is calculated on the CLIENT side and there is no server side verification or anything. So a hacker can literally bend the bullet path, if not completely alter it. The foundations of the game itself can be exploited to oblivion, and although it wouldn't be easy to fix, it would be possible. If Bohemia would give a shit that is. They just rely on BattlEye too much..

At this point Bohemia is really embarrassing itself. I honestly hope they at least pay @Geez well, personally I wouldn't be able to say "Thank you, we will investigate with BattlEye" a hundred times every day with no end in sight.

Hello everyone.
While we do understand your frustrations in regards to the players using malicious software in order to gain unfair advantage, the BattlEye is doing their best to stay on top of the hackers and detect as many as possible and subsequently ban them. There are hundreds of hackers being banned every month thanks to the BattlEye system. If you by any chance get a Steam ID of a hacker that is not being banned, please contact BattlEye directly at https://www.battleye.com/contact/ and they will check the suspicious player for any malicious software use.

As for this, this is something we are aware of and we are working on a fix internally. We understand that it is frustrating, however such fix is complicated and therefore takes time to complete, test and then deploy. I cannot share any estimates as to when this fix will be released, but we are working hard to get it as soon as it is possible to the live build.

Thank you for your understanding.
Regards,
Geez

Couldn't this process be automated by giving the players a shiny report button, which would then forward the reported player's info to BattlEye (if they have an API for this of course)? Not sure if it's a realistic idea, but I'm not an expert after all. Speaking of ideas and experts, look at this interesting video I found. Why don't you guys actually apply these techniques?

Thank you for that information. I'm glad to hear that you guys are doing something about this. If you don't mind me asking, why don't you guys inform the public about fixing such exploits as well, something like a progress report? I understand that there obviously are things you cannot share, but not sharing this kind of stuff at all seems to be a big PR fail, since it makes it seem like you guys are totally ignoring every exploit and putting all the responsibility on BattlEye. Whether that's mostly true or not, I don't know, but it does seem like so.

@Geez the new map looks amazing! Hope it will also come with a new anti-cheat :3
