The compass can be scaled but not rotated like the protractor can. The compass only rotates when the character rotates. This can be annoying if you're trying to use actual compass readings for some purpose (like triangulation) since you have to quit the map and physically rotate your character towards the desired azimuth, go back to the map, draw lines, quit the map, etc.
Maybe this should be a user defined option? Maybe some people prefer the current way of doing it, but I think being able to rotate the compass will be very valuable for many.
