Feature request - BaseBuilding update
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Demand among the community for base building related things seems to be the most important feature yet to be developed.
If you follow what mods are being used, the most popular is the CodeLock modification, allowing players to omit tedious process of manual code entry.

This can be not only brute forced, which is acceptable, but also easily done by macros and other 3rd party softwares.
The amount of effort that it takes to put in a code into lets say 3 gates is not worth the hussle I would say.
We know the game tries to keep it realistic, but pros and cons of having digital codelock versus combination locks is disproportionate in favor of the digital approach.
Being raided is being raided, which is fine, but having people use macros to access your base is just depressing.
You could have that item by default not in the loot table, or maybe craftable using electrical repair kit, etc.
Maybe you could add new mechanic and item to gain one → use pliers on (whatever object) and have chance of scavenging some electronic parts required to craft one. Maybe develop probability chance of succes, while failure would equal to electrical shock and result in instant death. We don't need to have it easily attainable, we would just appreciate better balance between playability and realism.

Not only that though, is what community needs. More base building possibilities, smaller variants of gates (which would open way more buildings for settling), more STORAGES.

Having gunracks, and in general dedicated storage is very needed change. There is nothing strange in having a gun display in a postApocalyptic world since well.. It is oriented around guns too...
"BadAss" people like to show off thier weaponry.
Those could be crafted from sheet metal, or attainbale in any other way. And again - you would not have to have them spawn on your official servers.

I can assure you, that any of above changes (codelock / upgraded combination locks [keyboard input also possible / only one-time code entry → just F to take off] / more base building structures / storages) would be the most appreciated, and biggest change for years. At least in players eyes...

Additional Information

The game is developing, and the community is growing bigger than ever.
Myself and my friends always enjoyed vanilla, and related community servers. We hate traders, helicopters, "tappers", party system, and all other game breaking changes, but the society is getting younger, and the game average player age, is descending quickly.

Under the influence of other popular games, and overall life style of 2000's kids, new players are straying from the vanilla experience.

There is still older yet not so old players - in mid 20-30s, who can not find their place, because newly emerged DayZ fans tend to play on overmodded servers, while lightly modded servers with quality of live improvements are being slowly erased from the scope.

It is not only us though who would be enthused to see above changes in the game, but also them, and I would not be surprised if pure-vanilla fans liked it too!

Please pich this topic to The Team, and analize what would be the best for the game, and there is no game... without the community of players.

Sincerely, Traqu

Hello Traqu.
Dev team is aware of popularity of mods which expand on BB experience.
However there is currently no plan to further expand the current BB functionality. If we decide to delve into it in the future, it will be subject to design considerations on our side first.

Geez
