When pressing "Play" on the DayZ launcher, I am given a 0xc000012f status_invalid_image_not_mz (Bad Image) warning, rendering the game unplayable. This is upon install, I have yet to actually play the game.

Open DayZ launcher
Press "Play" on bottom left of screen

I have attempted to troubleshoot by reinstalling c++ redistributales/directX, as well as validating files on Steam to no avail.

go into a server tab "Official" or "Community"
Choose a server, press Join.
if community, click the "Setup DLCS and mods and join" button
Play will join the last server you Played... since you haven't played.... it's probably bugged.
