Poor PS5 performance
Reviewed, UrgentPublic

Description

Default PS5 settings results in poor performance in certain areas of the map.

I experience lots of very noticeable frame drops, or screen tearing if disabling V-sync, on a standard PS5 (optical) with latest versions. It has been about the same on 1.21, 1.22, 1.23, I have limited experience from earlier versions.

Original PS5 optical setup. DayZ is installed on internal PS5 SSD. Running in 4K / 60hz. Forested areas with lots of trees in vicinity is a good example of difficult environments for performance. Zooming your vision in and out in such areas often gives frame drops as the game loads many more higher LOD tree models simultaneously, the same goes for turning quickly around.

Workaround: Reducing resolution to 1080p/60 (in PS system settings) gives much better results, no frame drops now for several weeks after switching. But this is a system-wide setting so has to be changed back every time if you run other games in 4K between sessions.

As it is, I think DayZ PS needs something like a "performance mode" or at least easier ingame config for improving performance, to avoid putting off Playstation players from this (absolutely great) game. A full-on PS5 version would of course be even better...

Steps To Reproduce
  • Run DayZ in 4K / 60hz
  • Navigate heavily forested or other graphically intensive areas, zooming, turning, moving.
  • V-sync ON gives significant and frequent frame drops, OFF gives screen tearing, SELECTIVE a mix of both (but maybe the best experience overall for this resolution).

Rebuild your data base, look up on youtube how to do it for the ps5. It deletes and replaces corrupted files with new ones while simultaneously organizing your files in a way that makes the game run even better. Im on ps4 and i do it at least 3 times a week. I can confidently drive 100 km

its in the ps5 safe mode and will make your ps5 run faster. if that doesnt help your dayz situation then you need to delete and reinstall dayz, you will only loose your settings, not your gear
