Concurring freezes in game
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

Hi.
My game keeps freezing for like 10 seconds then picks back up as nothing happened. I don´t think it´s a lag spikes its too consistent.

I have already tried to uninstall and reinstalling the game, prior to this I tried to delete a bugged character by changing a file. I made a copy of the non edited file just in case of problems, this happened and I replaced the modded file with the original. But the problem persists.

I removed a line of text related to one of my characters to remove it from my game, the character had -2 seconds of play time and was started on a modded server witch later was locked with a password so I can´t go in and remove it that way, that´s why I tried this.

Now this problem shows itself both on modded servers and unmodded, the game becomes unplayable, it´s hard to PvP when it freezes for so long.

Best regards.

The file I changed is "chars.DayZProfile" it´s located on "c:/Documents/DayZ" on my system, I opened it in Notepad++, looked through it and removed the part of the text I thought was only connected to that character. Then I saved the edit. After that these freezes started.

Hello Shaaw. Can you try to completely delete the "c:/Documents/DayZ" folder and then verify the game data through Steam? Make sure Steam cloud sync is disabled for Dayz before doing so.

Another thing we can suggest is to do a clean install of your graphic drivers and make sure there are no corrupted or outdated installations on your OS.

I reinstalled the graphics drivers, no change. My OS is up to date.

I was thinking, have I accidentally triggered some sort of anti cheat? And if so can it be reset?

Definitely not an anti-cheat measure. Had you been detected by anti-cheat you would get banned. It does not induce any lags or freezes.

Ok good to know! Do you have any other ideas? Reinstall windows? Seems kind of last resort.

Unfortunately no other suggestions I could provide at the moment.

Could you open the log? or did it not work? i still have the report and one other saved, if you need any additional information please just let me know so i can provide it!!

Unfortunately the log does not contain any related information as the game does not crash but freezes only. Have you installed any additional software upon reinstalling Windows that could be causing this?
