Just wanted to share some more positive thoughts about the 1.23 update and give some specifics on what I think the community really appreciated!
1.23 feels like a real update, a proper DayZ Update. It seems to have a bit of everything tbh :
A really nice map change (which we haven't seen in a long time, love it!)
New cosmetics, some even possibly functioning as NBC equipment
Very nice QOL changes with the car pushing, new physics relating to the car handling, new sounds, new animations, new server options for console, updated castle model, updated interior proxies to include more blood decals in some civilian houses, I even saw that the A3 barracks have been retextured to look more old and "dayz" themed.
New items like the field shovel and new assets on the airfield
An absolutely HUGE change to the skybox, this change really shocked me tbh. I knew it was coming, I had hoped it was gonna be good, but man I did not expect it to be THIS good. It really is gonna effect the entire atmosphere of the game in such a good way, the lighting is so much more moody and ambient / immersive, the quality of the skybox is just 100x better. This is honestly one of my favourite changes the game has seen.
A new weapon, been a while since we seen one added and I'm really excited to see what its gonna be.
More CLE changes and other server changes.
And that's just all of the stuff that we know about, there's gonna be even more.
I understand that this is the "big finale" update to the year, and it's just not realistic to ask that every update be as packed with content as this one is. But honestly, this feels exactly like the update we've been waiting for. Things felt a little bit stale this year in terms of the updates and especially the content within those updates, but this patch really hits home. It feels like a real DayZ update with some really nice core changes that actually change the game in a great way.
Massive GGs to the team all round, can't wait to dive in, hopefully we can see more updates like this moving forward.
Thanks <3
