Small rant about action times in DayZ.
Feedback, NormalPublic

Description

It's funny because a lot of people complain that DayZ is a walking simulator and that they hate spending hours holding W, yet that doesn't bother me at all. What really gets me is the amount of time you have to spend holding LMB.

Not only do you have to hold left click for almost every action in the game, but some of the actions take such an extremely long time to complete, it really is staggering just how much time you spend holding left click.

Is it really necessary that in order to eat a can of Lunchmeat I must hold down LMB for 30 seconds? Perhaps that doesn't sound very long but I implore you to try it in-game as it feels so excessive and unnecessary, neither my mouse nor wrist appreciate this.

It seems to take roughly 8 seconds to wring out a piece of clothing, if that item is drenched then you must repeat the action 3 times taking 24 seconds.
Assuming you have a hat, jacket, pants and gloves to wring out, that's 96 seconds spent holding LMB.

Cooking a piece of food on a stick also takes a such a huge amount of time to the point where I avoid cooking that way entirely. I haven't timed it but it's probably like 1-2 minutes per piece of food? I'm fine with it taking a while to cook, but I need to hold LMB that entire time? Yeah I ain't doing that when I've got 3-10 steaks that need cooking.

Fishing is probably the worst of all, not only do you need to hold LMB the entire time when actually fishing, but you also need to craft new fishing hooks, dig up worms, attach worms to the hooks, and that's not to mention cutting up all the fish, creating a fire and anything else involved such as sharpening your knife.. depending on how long you're fishing for you might be holding LMB for 5, 10, 30 minutes?.. my wrist is starting to hurt guys send help.

I would really appreciate if we had an option to toggle these actions so they continue automatically, and then let the player cancel them at any time by sprinting or pressing RMB to "raise weapon" for example.

If it's a concern that players might afk during the really long actions like cooking (or if you get unlucky fishing), then perhaps a type of minigame system could be added where you must click at the correct time once every ~30 seconds in order for it to continue, to ensure the player is still present.

Thank you.
