Experimental game client doesnt start on Windows 7
Acknowledged, NormalPublic

Description

I havent tried the experimental version since previous major update, and back then it did work fine, but when i tried it yesterday after the 1.22 Experimental update came out i discovered that it no longer runs on my system, it returns an error 0xC0000139 - STATUS_ENTRYPOINT_NOT_FOUND. That is when you launch the game through the launcher, if you launch the client executable directly then the windows error message pops up saying The procedure entry point MFCreateDXGIDeviceManager could not be located in the dynamic library MFPlat.DLL

My system is Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64 bit, I7-720QM processor, ATI Radeon HD5870 graphics card and 12gb RAM.

The regular branch of DayZ works fine at the same time.

Friend of mine has the same issue and he is running Win7 too.

WHY are you still using windows 7....
I understand it is one of the best OS Microsoft ever released... but it hasn't received any security patches in OVER 3 YEARS!

I run windows 10 on my 12 year old PC running on an i7-950 just fine, even dayz runs fine on low settings 4k (it has a RTX 2060)

Not to be rude... but your PC is so vulnerable over the past few years. There is a probable chance it's hosting malware or ransomware to the internet.

Hello Shift.
There is a possibility there are some corrupted files in your OS installation or drivers.
We suggest to check for any corrupted files and possibly do a clean install.

I have the same issue on Experimental 1.22.156458, 1.21 works fine.
Launcher starts normally but when you press play or join (this particular server) it crashes when it wants to start the game exe. At the part when it says at bottom of the launcher "Battleeye: Launching the game". When you close the " Dayz has closed in an unusual manner" window, the launcher goes back to normal.
Exit Code: 0xC0000139 - STATUS_ENTRYPOINT_NOT_FOUND

Due to the fact that other people are also having this issue, i think that it has nothing to do with my PC. I've actually found a way to get the DayZ_64.exe to launch by modifying the .exe file, but then ofcourse Battleeye isnt happy.

@Geez Could you please take another look given the new information? It would be bad if this makes it into stable in my opinion.

I've just tried it, Experimental game branch works again for me too on Windows 7 at the moment.

Hello @Geez, it appears this issue is back with 1.23 experimental.

We are going to check internally but due to the possibility of the system no longer being supported by steam from 2024 this might not get fixed.

Until then, we want to play our old windows 7 OS machines, so please find a way to make it work-
