I can't find a suitable place to put this, but Wobo has done a video about crossbow raiding. I would have to take the crossbow off my server if his research is correct. Apparently, the crossbow bolts last for ages and has the same impact on fences/gates as a .308 round. Is this something that has been overlooked or is this by design? Personally, I think it would ruin the game, especially on hardcore servers where ammo is intentionally scarce.

That's not the point. It will be possible. People raid with bolt action rifles on my server as it's the only way. It takes time, and people are willing to still do it. If you have an infinite ammo source, it becomes too easy.

if ammo is scarce on a server then being able to craft/reuse bolts means the crossbow is already OP regardless of raiding

Not really. Ammo is scarce because we're going for an apocalyptic feel. Crafting a bolt would be adding to that feel.
