Hey guys, I would like to bring some attention to a problem I have had with DayZ for a while now. The character lighting, particularly for characters in the distance, usually anywhere beyond about 100m.
Since the objects in the distance use LODs to render at a lower quality, and the shadows also typically disappear. Players who are moving, or even standing still in a bush or tree become extremely easy to spot. They stand out very very much, to the point where it almost looks like they are glowing in comparison to the environment around them. They are really bright, even when wearing somewhat "camo" clothing.
Another thing that adds to this problem is the breath of the character. The character produces a white breath cloud which stands out a LOT, especially in the distance again.
Here I will show some examples of this :
I have no idea how adjustable this is for you guys, I also don't have a good idea for what the approach would be to address this. But in general I would like to see the characters be a bit darker / interact better with the environment and the environment lighting when they are at a distance greater than 100m from your player. The characters and materials in general also have quite a shiny / glossy look which becomes more noticeable over distance too. I think some changes to that gloss / shine on the clothing would go a long way
Thanks for reading <3
