Windows 11 Microphone issue
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hi guys,

I've had a strange bug with my mic ever since installing Windows 11. For some reason this only affects DayZ - every other application can access and use my mic just fine.

I've ensured when playing that DayZ is using my microphone (for info it's a Razer Blackshark V2) in the audio settings and in the volume mixer, but for some weird reason it doesn't want to 'access' the mic (see image below taken from Windows Privacy and Security - Microphone settings).

I haven't been able to properly play it for a good few months. I have tried verifying files and reinstalling - don't really want to do a full system refresh.

Any help appreciated!

Hello Pirate_454.
Can you please check this on experimental and change the microphone setting in the ingame settings?

@Geez Where is the in game setting? i was just on exp and did not see it under audio.

@Geez I'll download experimental and update shortly.

I actually bought a new headset recently (completely different brand - steelseries arctis nova pro) and the issue persists.

@Geez @Nate_LapT

I downloaded experimental and don't seem to see any in-game mic settings I'm afraid.

Also I'm assuming the bug still exists, there is no indication that the mic is working through voice activation or push to talk.

Hello Pirate_454
by this we ment the sensitivity settings etc.

Hey @Geez , I've just tried with activation threshold etc - there is no indication that a microphone is working or present. I've double checked that the correct mic is being used under the volume properties.

DayZ Experimental does not appear to have accessed the mircophone under Privacy & security > Microphone, only DayZ back in 18/12/2022

There doesn't seem to be any sensitivity settings other than activation threshold

Thank you.
Unfortunately we do not have any more suggestions for now as we cannot produce the issue on our end. If you come across any other info which could help us produce the issue and be able to analyse it further, please let us know.

Hi @Geez, I performed a full windows 11 reset (clean) and the issue has gone. I have a funny feeling it has something to do with upgrading straight from Windows 10 to 11 (unclean) - some of the audio drivers had mitigation errors, which persisted even after uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.

Thanks for your help either way, and maybe this will help one way or another.

Cheers
