Cars get stuck in debug area
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

When you drive off the map, your tires will sink into the floor and your car will become stationary.
Happened yesterday on 1 3pp Original DayZ vanilla server.
This had happened before months ago, but since i saw videos of people driving in debug I thought it's fixed.
It worked fine in 1.19 Livonia and Chernarus, but yesterday it's back to the car sinking into the floor and getting stuck.
In 1.19 i tried it at the Kemanka western debug side and on the northern Livonia debug on vanilla servers (not official) and it didnt sink.
Yesterday on Chernarus close to tisy my car did sink.

If this is an intended feature to keep people out of debug, it NEEDS to be changed.
Losing your car without warning and for no apparent reason is a huge disturbance in the game experience.
It would be better if cars slowed down extremely in debug, that way you could return to the main map once you notice, and your car isnt lost.

Unhelpful crying:
We felt great because we just got that car and tons of rare guns from a fight, we wanted to pick up our friend on the coast.
The car got stuck right away and we had to discard a ton of loot from the trunk we couldn't carry anymore and hiked for 20-30 minutes instead of swiftly driving with the car we had gained.
A real bummer.

Event Timeline

This was working on 1.19 because removing of wheels was disabled (some things needed to be fixed), so you could drive offmap. Ppl got that fast and started to make offmap bases. With 1.20 that ability has gone, so lot of ppl lost their "behind map" bases and started to cry. There are no simple solutions in dayz. Yes, that was nice to have 10km from the edge base that nobody will look for, or just get tired to go so far, or just get lost. But now the reality is different, face it, adapt. No more offmap bases, realise it, and keep on going. And ofc, devstem, you SHOULD adapt for the new reality aswell. Start working on air transport before it's too late and nobody will care about that anymore, dayz is ~13 years old (if include dayz mod), it won't last long, so start realising it.

Hello DayZBicycleAccidentPhysics.
This is intended behaviour as the players are not supposed to drive into the debug zone as they would abuse this in order to create bases etc.

I understand that people should not be able to drive there, but straight up DESTROYING peoples vehicle for no apparent (to them in the moment) reason in a game like DayZ?
The car also won't be ruined by this, which means a car slot on the server is taken up by a completely useless stuck car (doesnt respawn on its own).
It takes hours, days, weeks for many people to get a car going and I wouldn't be surprised if this made people straight up uninstall. I assumed this was a glitch.
This NEEDS to be changed, it was a huge bummer when it happened to me without warning and I have seen many posts from people having it happen.

Suggestions: Invisible wall for cars which doesn't do damage to cars if hit at speed.
Cars slow down to 1 kmh in debug, that way you can turn back and can't drive far into it.
Or make the area look extremely watery/ muddy so you'd assume to sink. Maybe create a huge minefield at the edge with warning signs.
