[Feature Request] Add option to disable platoon channel
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

It would be really nice to have on option to disable the platoon channel without having to switch off the radio completely.
Often times players spam in this channel and it becomes super noisy. The only remedy is to switch off everything but then you can't use the radio for group communication anymore.

Thanks, this would be really appreciated !

Thank you for your feedback.

Currently there are multiple features in place, which disables the audio communication over the Platoon chat frequency.

These options to my knowledge are:

  1. Turn of the radio.
  2. Change the radio frequency to another channel.
  3. Remove the Radio from your inventory.

But could you be more exact in how the suggested "disable platoon channel" feature/functionality would have to look like or work?

There has been a lot of requests in other forums (reddit, steam, discord) to make platoon chat only available for squad leaders.

The biggest issue is that usually platoon chat (PC) is filled with people improperly using it. It is often so bad to the point where alot of people discard their radio or turn it off. This makes it hard to contact friendlies. It is too annoying having to respawn, de-tune PC and then possibly have to do this again if the new channel you tuned to is being used.

The simple way of addressing this is have the 2nd channel able to be turned off and for it to be off by default except for Squad Leaders. If the 2nd channel is manually turned on and tuned to a channel then this should be remembered by the game and persist through spawns until changed by the user.
