Walk toggle is disabled when using movement keys within the inventory.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Character walk toggle will be disabled when using movement keys within the inventory.

When you move with the inventory open, walking is enabled automatically, so I believe what's happening here is that if you already had it toggled ON prior to opening the inventory, then begin walking with the inventory open, it will continue walking with the inv open (because it's forced) but actually turns OFF your own toggle outside of the inventory - making you jog once the inventory is closed.

Test 1 - Toggle turns off.

  1. Press 'Walk or run toggle' keybind to enter walk state.
  2. Open the inventory and press a movement key. (or hold a movement key as you open the inventory, works either way)
  3. Close the inventory.
  4. Walk toggle will be disabled and character will revert to jogging.

Test 2 - Toggle remains active.

  1. Press 'Walk or run toggle' keybind to enter walk state.
  2. Stand completely still, then open/close the inventory without pressing any other input.
  3. Walk toggle will remain active and work as intended.

Additional Information

Very frustrating issue when you have a broken leg, walk mode constantly turns off when using the inventory causing you to gain shock damage unexpectedly, and requires you to keep pressing your walk toggle key repeatedly. Unless you're someone who never moves with the inventory open, I guess.

Hi @Geez

I wanted to mention three other issues related to the walk feature.

  1. The character cannot slow walk when crouched - meaning you must be either prone or standing in order to move with a broken leg and not gain shock damage, in some situations you'd like to be more sneaky than standing, but move faster than prone, but it isn't possible.
  1. The character cannot slow walk with the weapon raised or aimed down sights - this sucks because not only are you moving at a snails pace with a broken leg, you also have to defend yourself standing completely still, or risk going unconscious.
  1. To make the previous point even worse, simply using the raise modifier key will turn off your walk toggle as well, so every time you do raise your weapon, you must toggle the walk modifier again after lowering it. Vid of that below.

I start moving with the walk modifier toggled on, so I am not taking shock damage, after I briefly raise my weapon the toggle gets disabled and I begin taking shock damage.

Hello again.
The issue has been resolved internally and the fix will appear in one of the upcoming updates.
