Mis-aligned sights on weapons and zeroing issues.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

A number of weapons has mis-aligned ironsights. While in most cases it's a cosmetic issue, it may become a gameplay-affecting problem when trying to quickly dispatch the sentries, especially with handguns.

Affected weapons:

  • Browning Hi-Power
  • S&W Model 10
  • M1911
  • M712 Mauser Schnellfeuer
  • Mk22 Hush-Puppy
  • Makarov
  • Tokarev
  • Welrod
  • K-50M
  • M16 (but not the XM148 version)
  • M1891 Mosin - sights mis-aligned for zero higher than 200m
  • M1938 Mosin - sights mis-aligned past 800m zero
  • M79 - sights mis-aligned for 75m zero
  • MAT-49 - sights mis-aligned for suppressed version, also muzzle proxy on folded variant is too low (regular barrel is clipping out of suppressor)
  • PK
  • PPS-43 and 43/52
  • RPD.

Additionaly several weapons have also zeroing issues, where point of impact (POI) is significantly different than point of aim (POA):

  • .38 Colt Detective - POI is 30-50 centimeters above POA (for example, aiming at middle/bottom of chest will give you headshot at 20-30 meters range)
  • S&W Model 10 - high POI like Colt
  • M1/M2 Carbine - POI is low*
  • MAS-49/56 - POI is low*
  • MAS-49/56 rifle grenade sight - grenade will impact about 50 meters behind the target, if you set your zero correct (easy to check in Virtual Arsenal - set zero to 50, aim at the dude 50 meters away, fire and you'll hit near the dude at 100 meters range)
  • MP-40 - POI is low*
  • PPS-43 and 43/52 - POI is low*.

*long guns zero was tested in Virtual Arsenal at 100 meter zero and target (if applicable). I haven't tested other zero ranges yet.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Open Virtual Arsenal
  2. Select weapon
  3. Fire at intended target (handguns were tested on 20, 30 and 40 meter targets, rifles on 50 and 100 meter targets)
Additional Information

In most cases the POA/POI is achievable while aiming using the front sight blade. However, in case of Mk22 Hush Puppy, and RPD one should aim with the rear sight notch. In case of those two guns it gives a false sense of high POI, even though it's really not the case.
