DayZ video settings, key bindings, character customization not saving. (No '/Documents/DayZ' folder being created either)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Since enabling a password login on my Windows 10 PC, I have been unable to set any new key bindings, or have my changed video settings save on exit. I also noticed when I deleted my old Documents/DayZ folder, it is no longer being created. I have tried:
-Setting steam to run as admin - no change

  • Setting all .exe files in common/Dayz to run as admin - no change
  • Setting my steam directory to UNTICK read-only - no change (it seems to re-tick this though after unticking it....?)

I see there are other tickets but nothing seems to work for me. Any help is appreciated.

Hello Radicals27.
This looks like something in your OS prevents the folder from being created.
Have you changed any other rights besides a password login? Does your account have administrator access set up to the documents folder?
Regards,
Geez

Yep my account is 100% an admin account, and the only account on the computer. And yes in the security tab it says my username has ownership of the Documents folder.

And no I did not change any rights besides password login.

Do you think uninstalling and reinstalling Steam & DayZ might fix this?

I completely reinstalled Steam (And DayZ), on my C:\ this time (where my OS is installed), last time it was on my D:\ which was for apps/games.
Still not saving.... Wow.
No "DayZ" folder in my Documents folder still. I have no idea what to do this is frustrating.

It's also worth noting I get an error sometimes when I close DayZ now (even when it was on D:\) it says 0x0000005 STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
in a little window when I exit most times.

I FIXED IT!!
It was windows antivirus, when I went into it's settings and disabled "real time scan" it made the DayZ folder in Documents, and saved it. I will add dayz to be ignored by windows antivirus and I should be OK.

To add: I actually kept real time protection ON, but disabled "controlled folder access" (below it) in windows settings. Hope this helps someone!

in regards to this bug i have found if the name in the files and the name on dzsa don’t match up then the files will not save changing both the file and dzsa names seems to have fixed the issue for me
