Dayz Experimental v1.11 on xbox will not connect to servers. Error: connecting failed
Assigned, UrgentPublic

Description

I have tried to get help and information about this error. I have two different maniphest numbers, the first one from a secondary account because I initially forgot I had created this account. The second was from this primary email account in order to correctly inform you about which account this problem is on through xbox, (and to get a refund if possible). I have also contacted support@bistudio.com about the refund and they have informed me I should contact microsoft.com for the refund of your demo game.

The reason I am creating this third maniphet, is because I do not believe Geez is actually helping me in my second maniphest T156677, and also because I did not get a response from dev for over a month on the first maniphest BI-T #218627.

The reason I feel Geez is not helping, is because I tried attaching 3 images to the response to the query Geez initially replied with, which was about what version I was playing on... that email with its confirmation pix was refused by your email system. So I have reason to believe because (noreply@feedback.bistudio.com) was in that refusal email, it was a ruse to stall me to begin with. Also, because that initial maniphest number is not in my feedback tracker with this account associated with this email address, I do not know if that maniphest was actually being supported.

Geez also suggested I use a traceroute on my xbox... which I knew to either be a notice that he did not know what device I was using after I described this in the maniphest T156677, or he was making me chase my tail. But I checked with microsoft.com anyway, and they confirmed that traceroutes can NOT be done on xbox consoles. (If they can, please advice how to do so.)

Therefore, I am here again to explain the issue... on my xbox dayz experimental demo game v1.11 (I am using an xbox one s). The error I keep getting is the 'connecting failed: an unknown error has occurred.' This happens on every server, every time I try to run the game.

I have explained in my previous maniphests, what I have tried to do to correct this situation. And I was advised by microsoft.com to request your port numbers to the 4 American servers in order to try and port forward the game through my router. (which is also a reason, I believe I am getting a run around by your tech support, because this should have been offered by your tech support. Instead microsoft has suggested this.)

If there are no further suggestions by your tech support, and you will not provide port numbers to use, I will have no further recourse then to seek a refund for this game.

Your message wasn't delivered. Despite repeated attempts to deliver your message, the recipient's email system refused to accept a connection from your email system.

Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that their email system is refusing connections from your email server. Give them the error details shown below. It's likely that the recipient's email admin is the only one who can fix this problem.

For Email Admins
No connection could be made because the target computer actively refused it. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the remote host - that is, one with no server application running. Hello TeamKSA.
The noreply@feedback.bistudio.com is not our actual email and is our automated system to send update emails - it does have "no reply" in its name, meaning replies should not be sent to it as they will not go through. If you want to send us screenshots and other materials, please attach them to the currently open tickets regarding to your issue (By drag and droppingthe files into the comment window).
Also please refrain from creating multiple tickets for the same topic while the old tickets are still open and are being discussed.
We have suggested a traceroute to identify any potential issues with your network, the traceroute can be done through a computer that is connected to the same network as your xbox is.
We also have checked previously, but there is no ticket with the ID T218627 (https://feedback.bistudio.com/T218627) and we also were unable to find any previous tickets from your account (https://feedback.bistudio.com/p/TeamKSA/) regarding to this topic.

Geez

I do not usually look for a "no reply" statement in my email to or from section because I would have to hover my mouse over that text line to see that it states "no reply." But I see now that the emails you sent to my email account are just a notification of your replies through feedback website, but they did not specify inside the email that I should only use the feedback functions for replying.

Also, the feedback site is not clear about several things like this, especially when the 'assigned tasks' page is empty. And so I have to rummage different "queries" pages looking for replies, which is not intuitive at all. Plus, it's not noticeable through feedback wesite when I have a reply unless I receive an email directly to my address, and so I assumed the wrong thing from the beginning. Even the use of the "star" function to start a new ticket/maniphest was very confusing to me. It seems your company hides functions/things to make it needlessly difficult to report bugs or get tech support in general.

As for making a traceroute from my pc, I am only aware that I would be tracing to your pc servers, and not an xbox one. This still does not make sense to me when they would/should be two different servers with two different IP addresses. Or is the feedback website the destination you want me to trace, which again, does not make sense if it is different than the xbox servers. Please explain, because none of this makes sense. Wouldn't I need an IP address or website to specifically traceroute to and since it's xbox where does it show that information, especially since you did not make it clear what web address or IP address I should use? Are they all three same server source address?

And also, microsoft.com suggested using the options to make a port forwarding exception in my router's OS. Is this an option or not? I am able to use port forwarding for your dayz xbox servers?

these are the photos of the dayz experimental demo version number 1.11... I hope this finally works.

Hello again, here are the IP addresses of the xbox servers you have mentioned in the initial report, you should be able to do a traceroute towards them from your computer

Hello again,
Can you try to connect to one of these servers (in game) and then send us your nick and time of the connection? (And the server which you have tried to connect to)
Regards,
Geez

thank you for the help. it seems to have worked whatever you did. Was i just a matter of whitelisting my ip address? I tried two accounts on two servers. So far they both logged into each server just fine (I will complete the testing for each with 4 diff accounts but these are my main account and my sons account).

Please let me know what process was used and if this is something on my end I needed to have setup.

Hello TeamKSA.
There were no actions from our end yet (We requested the gamertag and servers to possibly take a look if there is some error showing in the logs on your connection), so we do not know what did fix this, but it probably has been fixed somewhere on your end.

Geez
