The new battery drain at vehicle startup is potentially crippling since the battery will not charge when driving as it should.

Drive around with a partially depleted battery, it will not charge.
Suggestion: Make the health status of the battery affect charging - for example when damaged it could take twice as long to charge and be unable to charge above a certain %, when badly damaged it could instead not be possible to charge at all.
Event Timeline
Hello Beavis.
There is currently no such feature as car battery charging while driving. However, we have took a note of this as a suggestion and it may be implemented at some point.

Geez
Okay, fair enough. But, with all due respect, then there really should not be a feature that drains the battery either. I would suggest the 1.11 battery drain is put on ice until charging when driving is a thing. Being forced to take the battery out to charge it will become a very annoying meta game.
As predicted, the battery drain feature brings nothing but frustration in this form. Naturally a mod popped up pretty much instantly (indeed, he already had the scripts for the E-cart mod) that fleshes the feature out to what it should be. Please, consider making batteries charge in a car with the engine running.

What is the point in introducing a "realistic" mechanic but only half implementing it?
Batteries in real vehicles get charged while driving.
I don't mind the batteries draining when starting the engine, but not when they don't recharge with a battery charger (bug), and not when they don't recharge while driving (realistic).
It's like allowing the player character to get hungry (realism) but food doesn't work - stupid.
