I can confirm this, works 100% like this on cheated Vehicles.

Did you try putting it in the second spot or try adding a second barrell? We had a similar issue, and we assumed it was due to the damage amount as our first barrell was badly damaged, so we added a second that was only worn and it showed up as expected under the empty space.

I would also suggest placing the first barrel in, then the second, remove the first, then place it back in. It might be that just that spot is bugged, or it might be an issue with needing a barrel there first before the inventory opens proper.

Hopefully this gets resolved soon.
