Restricted Mods I've never downloaded keeping me off of the NAK server
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I don't know if this is the right forum to be posting this problem but hopefully I'll be directed into the right direction. I've played on this server for 2 years straight. Then I took a break from the game for about a year. When I went back on I first disabled all mods. However, when I enter the server it says that I have restricted mods. But, again, I have none loaded. The one that keeps coming up is called, " rjj agile ghosthawk". Where did it come from? Another error msg is "bin\config.bin/CfgWeapons.rhsusf_weap_glock17g4". I had a text file on my desktop under "Assembly Resolution...there are about 7 of these saying, "Resolving Xceed.Wpf.Toolkit.resources, Version=2.1.0.0, Culture=en-US, PublicKeyToken=3e4669d2f30244f4......requested by: unknown.... not resolved....I don't know if they are all connected to the problem. Should I just reload the entire game with all of my DLC's I bought? I don't want to lose any data. I've played over 700 hours on ARMA 3 mostly on the NAK server. So, Is it a matter of just uninstalling it and installing it again? Thank you for any advice you can give. I miss playing the game! Sgt.Fury

You can try reinstalling the game as long as you have your profile saves then you should be fine.

@Sgt.Fury - Hate to tell you this, you ARE running with mods!

ALWAYS GOOGLE THE ERROR!

" rjj agile ghosthawk" = RJJ agile Helicopters mod - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=726570384

"bin\config.bin/CfgWeapons.rhsusf_weap_glock17g4" = You using the RHS mod.

"Resolving Xceed.Wpf.Toolkit.resources, Version=2.1.0.0, Culture=en-US, PublicKeyToken=3e4669d2f30244f4......requested by: unknown.... not resolved" = Extended WPF Toolkit™ by Xceed is the number one collection of WPF controls, components and utilities for creating next generation Windows applications. Use it to build professional looking, modern, and easy to use WPF applications. It has been downloaded more than 1 million times here, on Codeplex, and on NuGet. - https://github.com/xceedsoftware/wpftoolkit

Your issue is most likely your using OLD versions of these mods and/or trying to play on a server that does not accept them. Use Bohemia's launcher to join the game.

Hate to say it, this is an 'user error'.

Again, ALWAYS GOOGLE THE ERROR! That is EXACTLY what I did for 2 of them, the 'RHS' is pretty easy to see.

Good luck!

:)

Thank you Wulf and z80cpu!
I may have added those mods 2 years ago and I don't even remember if it was for Single Player campaign or multiplayer. The site looked official so I "assumed" that I could use them. But I've played 791 hours on NAK ever since without any problems. I'm not even a pilot! I so much appreciate your help, guys I should have used Google but I use another search called, "StartPage.com" which didn't bring it up. I don't remember if they were put into the game via an installer or just dropping it into the Arma 3 folder. Can you please direct me to the folder where I may find these mods to delete them? When I type them in my computer search the words Blackfoot and GhostHawk don't come up. You guys rock!

@Sgt.Fury - You're welcome!

I would HIGHLY recommend for you to use ONLY Bohemia's ARMA launcher. In it you will find the mods and just 'uncheck them' and then save that profile. And what site are you talking about that looked 'official'? You REALLY should be getting mods ONLY from Steam OR ARMAHolic.Com, which copies them from Bohemia's site. And NEVER USE AN EXE/BATCH FILE/ETC. TO INSTALL the mod!!!!

Also, ARMA does NOT install mods because 'it wants to'. YOU tell it to do such.

It is hard to help if you keep on 'doing your thing':

#1 - Use the launcher, uncheck those mods, then save that profile. Forget A3 Launcher, it is a piece of CRAP for many reasons. As an small example of what I am talking about, go to their support page and look at how many bugs and better yet, how basically NO ONE HAS RESPONDED! See: https://support.launcher.eu/category/14/bug-reports.

#2 - Use Bohemia's launcher for joining servers. It will tell you if you need mods or if you need to remove mods. If mods are needed, it will get them from Steam. All of this is AUTOMATIC.

If you used some funky method to install these mods, you MIGHT be able to find them by sorting via date. All the ARMA files should have the same dates for the MOST PART. The added mod's dates should 'stick out like a sore thumb'.

Outside of doing #1 and #2, a COMPLETE wipe of ARMA will have to be done. And guess what? Whatever you did before, STILL CAN HAPPEN AGAIN! It really fixes nothing. ;)

Do it the right way and the issues will be corrected for TODAY AND FOR TOMORROW! :)

Back in the OFP days, I dumped all my mods into the 'Addons' folder where Bohemia put theirs...BIG MISTAKE in the end.

Do #1 and #2 and you will be fine!

And stick to Google...do you REALLY think others care and are 'dying to know' if you're searching for an ARMA mod? ;) If you're so concerned, then do what I do. I am NEVER logged into Google unless I NEED to be. Once I get what I want, I LOG OUT! From my PC, Google knows very little about me...my android phone....hmmm...a different story... ;)

:)

z80cpu,

Great advice and much appreciated. I'm certain that I downloaded the "Agile Helicopters" from Armaholic written by Raven_JJ as the restricted mods were noted on the NAK server as "Rjj agile Blackfoot/Ghosthawk". See http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=25103&highlight=RJJ%2BAGILE . The mod was for a more realistic flight but the reality is that I don't pilot anything on any server. I respect you and the admin at the NAK server very much. I'm glad that they watch for mods that might give others an advantage which is what ruined the run-n-gun COD, Battlefield and all of the others that have been lost to the cheaters and their aimbots. I take to heart all that you've shared here and I completely understand. I did find under my "Heli" internal folder all of the files that started with "RJJ" and deleted them, about 15 files that I put there 2 or 3 years ago. I haven't tried to restart the ARMA 3 game yet but you're probably right, I may have to completely uninstall the game and reload it. Thank you, again, for your knowledge and taking the time to set me down the right path. :-)

Hello @Sgt.Fury - You're more than welcome!

I would advise you to do the 'trick' I mentioned, view all files BY DATE. You SHOULD be able to 'pick-out' all the 'bad' ones REAL quick. And if you see one that you're not sure about? RENAME IT! ;)

From: SomeARMAFile.PBO

To: SomeARMAFile.PBO.HOLD (or what ever you wish to append to the end)

  • Doing the 'file date' check is MUCH quicker than whacking and re-installed ARMA
  • Renaming file permits you to 'check quickly' if a file is good or bad without deleting a 'real' file.

I wish you luck in which path you choose to follow!

Good luck to ya!

:)

I did go look these people up.

They state VERY CLEARLY what mods are allowed and even have links to them...and it is a LOT of mods...too many for me personally. Because you had mod xyz and they still use it does NOT mean your VERSION is the same as theirs, which means 'RESTRICTED'. Because it is NOT the 'same mod'. V2 is NOT the same as v3 of some mod/program.

Though, I will admit I have never heard anyone use the term 'restricted'. 'Restrict' does NOT mean you can NOT join. There are MANY meanings to this word: hinder, impede, and many others.
See: https://www.thesaurus.com/browse/restrict

They SHOULD be saying: 'If you do not have the mods listed above, you can not join the server'. This statement is 100% true, correct, and CLEAR. Their current statement is 'fuzzy' to say the least.

They also state VERY CLEARLY this too right below the mod list:

"...The mods listed are the only ones allowed. Any mod not specifically listed is restricted..."

See: https://www.naksquad.net/mods/approved-mods/
