Eye Focus backs out from ADS
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

When entering ADS mode by clicking second mouse button using any rifle and pressing Eye Focus keybind (middle mouse button) user gets pulled out of ADS mode and back to normal Raise Weapon mode thus rendering Eye Focus usage impossible when in ADS mode.

I like to suggest to separate Eye Focus from Toggle ADS functionality so it can be used along side ADS ie. Eye Focus zooms only and should not act as ADS toggle at the same time.

Hello Dranged.
The zoom feature in ironsight mode is toggled by left ctrl key while wielding weapon.

Still this not solve the problem that Eye Focus acts as ADS toggle in the same time.

The reverse of this is also true. In Arma and DayZ legacy, you could raise your weapon and still use eye focus, which was helpful for scanning areas while in an offensive/defensive posture. Now you get thrown in to ADS when you attempt to do this with the weapon raised.

Separating the binds would return this functionality and also satisfy @Deranged 's request.

Hello Deranged.
Can you please describe what exactly is the issue? Is the problem that the eye zoom keybind that is used without ranged weapon acts as ADS toggle while having arms raised, meaning you are unable to zoom in while holding the weapon with raised arms (and have to lower the weapon to use the zoom feature?)?

Geez

Yes, that's is exactly the issue.

When entering ADS mode via clicking Second Mouse Button (SMB could be default keybind but I can't remember as I have to rebind everything as I'm left handed) and then pressing eye focus keybind you back out from ADS back to raised weapon stance and therefore cannot really use eye focus keybind to zoom in ADS mode.

Why this is a problem, well you would think that eye focus would act in similar fashion whether you are trying to zoom in while holding weapon in ADS mode and when you are just trying to zoom in without weapon in hand. Now it acts as ADS toggle as well.

Currently while in ADS mode eye focus does not work in the same fashion as it works outside of ADS mode and users are required to use different keybind to zoom in while ADS. This could lead to confusing user experiences and possibly forces users (like me) to create uncomfortable keybinds.

In my opinion actions should always act in similar fashion regardless where they are used and it could be even better if one action only executes one action.

I could add that it would be nice to be able to bind eye focus and hold breath to same button and expect them to work always together in similar fashion (zooms in and holds breath) regardless whether you are using ranged weapon in ADS mode or not. This is not the case currently unfortunately and there are many other problems with keyboard configuration currently.

Users should not focus fighting against controls and learning to use different keybinds to perform same action in different situation.

Hello Deranged.
Entering the ADS mode will zoom the view as much as the Eye zoom feature would by pressing the middle mouse button. It would be quite complex to separate the eye zoom from the ads in the raised arms stance and currently it is not planned to separate the two.

Geez

Oh well that's too bad to hear.

Could you at least do something about the Raise modifier action that goes directly to ADS instead of acting as modifier (what ever that is meant to do anyways) and add another bind able action to just raise weapon (currently I think you have to hold raise modifier button down to merely raise weapon as by clicking the button you go to ADS directly O_o)?

Yo Geez,

The claim that entering ADS mode will zoom the view as much as the Eye zoom is incorrect. I just tested it out while trying to make custom keybinds to work somewhat properly (still walk and run toggle action does not work for me even when using default keybind but what ever). You can clearly see that Eye zoom does zoom further than ADS mode when entering ADS mode using Eye zoom keybind. View zooms in a then backs out a bit.

But anyways, as you said nothing is gonna happen so might as well close this and my other control related issues as they will never get addressed I think.
