Audio Issues
New, NormalPublic

Description

I've been experiencing issues of the DayZ voice chat randomly spiking to levels that seem like 9999+ DB.
Here's what I've tried so far:
-I've updated audio drivers.

-I've updated headphone drivers.

-I've verified my game files.
-I've stopped all non-essential tasks in the background.

Here is what I know:
-It isn't a case of when multiple people are talking at once, though that does seem to make it worse.

-It isn't a hardware issue, I7, 7700 Kaby Lake, 1080, 32 GB DDR4, all top notch stuff.

-It isn't a resource issue, I've monitored task manager while playing.

If any insight could be lent here it would greatly be appreciated.

Event Timeline

Never had it happen try telling someone to start talking then press up on their arrow keys to tab to whispering that might help

Two weeks later and no response from the devs.

This is the usual with BI, I submitted a bug report for Arma 3 a few months ago, and I emailed back and forth and nobody ever got back to me.

Thanks, Bohemia.

@MichaelKarn You forgot to write - which of the two audio devices you want to use in the game, and the product model. Have you tried to make changes in the sound settings in Windows 10? There you can choose the application and set the default audio device that will be used in the game.
Follow to the "Speakers" right-click> "View audio settings"> "Advanced Options Sound", select DayZ, assign devices to audio and microphone.

@Lex

Everything is set to default, regardless of whether or not I would specifically set an output it wouldn't matter, as I only have one, my Arctis Pro Wireless Headset, I have no other potential inputs or outputs.

Edit:

I've even run soundcheck during my gaming sessions to completely confirm it isn't hardware related. I've played DayZ on and off for a few years, and it only started recently, and it only has problems with other individual's voices. Game audio is perfectly fine.

Edit2: I've even completely uninstalled the game and reinstalled three times, I've deleted all leftover BI files, and I've even reinstalled to a brand new drive fresh out of the box.

That is, the sound is distorted on a video - this is not a sound from the microphone of your audio device, the sound from the microphone of another player?
It takes place on the other servers that do not use mods?

@Lex

The sound is directly related to that of another player, yes.

You might think that it has something to do with the microphone of the other individuals, except it occurs with everyone, and only on DayZ. Discord audio for those same people is fine.

(Granted I wasn't able to test everyone I've encountered, however I was able to test the majority, given that it is a whitelisted community and many were more than willing to help me troubleshoot.)

Tested on other servers, yes, the issue is constantly relevant as I've previously stated.

Edit:

I've even tested on another version of DayZ Standalone on a separate Steam account as I own multiple copies, obviously not much would change with the different copies, but it was worth a try.

You play on a server that is using mods. You need to find out from the server community - what mods they use for voice communications and some events you do not have.

I failed to correctly use the quote function, but that is a quote from my previous reply.

I have tested it.

They use zero mods in relation to voice.

I'm not a team game developers. I just want to help bridge the gaps in the information about your problem. Lack of information and lack of such problems on the tracker interfere identify the problem. Have you tried to use another audio device as a sound will be played on the speakers of your PC, without the use of Wireless Headset? The problem persists?

I'm unable to test it without a wireless headset, I don't have speakers, I only use headset audio.

Regardless of this fact, it only started happening after one of the updates from when I stopped playing from July to mid august.

Your PC must be built-in sound card - a device for connecting a wired headset or speakers with a 3.5mm plug.

Have your wireless headphones have a software that allows you to change settings and modes of operation headphones work.
Have you tried to change the configuration bit and sampling frequencies, or switch modes - stereo \ 5.1 channel \ 7.1 channel surround sound settings for bass and treble?
Any changes you need to do before the start of the game, changing infusions during the game may not work.
