Black Screen without mods
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Using DayZ Launcher from Steam, click play button down arrow "play without mods". Login screen is black where it would normally render the background and your character. You can still search for servers and click on play to join. Once in a game, screen is still black except for the UI. The only work around is to not play in 1080p. In other words, you cant play at max resolution. This problem does NOT present itself if you are playing WITH MODS. I've gone as far as uninstalling the mods, restarting and joining an official server and I still get the black screen at login and in the game until I lower the resolution.

Additional Information

All resolutions worked except 1080p resolutions when playing without mods (official servers). All players are experiencing the same issue. When playing WITH MODS (community servers), everything renders perfectly under 1080p. This only occurs when playing WITHOUT MODS (official and vanilla community servers or modless servers).

Did not experience this problem for ver 1.03

I have the same issue. I work around it by deleting the DayZ folder in My Documents and re-configuring settings EVERY time I want to play.

Good to know. Sucks for custom keybinds.

Hello c4timah and thank you for the report.
This is a known issue that is related to combination of hardware antialiasing and ambient occlusion settings. The issue has been fixed internally and will be fixed on Steam in the future. The workaround is to disable HWAA or have ambient occlusion set to low while using HWAA.
