Can't Download Workshop Content
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Recently, before the Tanks DLC was released, all my mods randomly started re-downloading themselves. So I deleted some that were trying to install to reduce the amount of downloading it would have to do. Now there is only one addon left to download from the Steam workshop, which is CUP: Units, it said it needed to be updated, but the update task was not being sent to steam. SO I tried unscibscribing to it and resubscribing to it with no success. I then started searching online to find any possible fix, the only possible fix I found was deleting Appscache and performing a disk cleanup on my C: drive, where steam is located, but it led to no avail.

Additional Information

One of my hard drives failed, which I had to remove from my PC, but no arma content was stored on it. It was my old C drive, which started failing. Not sure if it has anything to do with it though.

Here is my Arma 3 launcher logs.

Hello.

This is most likely a steam issue so there isn't much we can do about it. Sorry.

Ok, thank you. I have contacted Steam about it.

So after talks with steam, it shows that steam is downloading the addons to my Arma 3 workshop folder. They in explicitly replied saying that the Arma 3 launcher isn't detecting it correctly or something along those lines.

Might be a problem of communication between the Game Launcher and Steam app. That could explain the missing part.

Have you tried reinstalling the game and/or Verified Integrity via Steam?

I haven't tried a reinstall, but I have tried verification that showed all files successfully validated. I just tried download the RHS mods, which were ~8GB. Steam successfully downloaded them and shows it complete, but when I launch Arma Launcher, it says they aren't installed. Then when I look in B:\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3\!Workshop the RHS mods simply aren't there. I don't know if Steam is deleting them or putting them in the wrong place, but I can't find them. I have looked through Steam settings for any possible error on my part, but I can not find anything. Steam were adamant that it wasn't their fault and told me to contact the developer, closing the case without a resolution.

I simply don't know what to do, it did once work for years, but just before the Tanks DLC update it broke. I am unsure of what to do from here, I am trying to avoid a complete reinstall of the game, but it may be the only way to progress, but I don't quite see what that will do.

I am going to try and move Arma 3 to my SSD if I can free enough space and see if it an error with Arma not being detected correctly by Steam. I will report back after.

EDIT: Did a clean install, downloaded all the workshop mods again and it didn't fix anything.

I have noticed that any mod that is saying uninstalled, but downloaded by steam is quickly flashing green and then reverting back to a black bar. I have no clue as to why it started or how to fix it. At a loss with this one unfortunately.

Finally got a FIX!

Just incase anyone else has this issue, I will say how it happened. (Totally my fault)

So one day a few weeks ago my old HDD failed, so I had to replace it. Luckily I knew it was on it's way out and moved everything from the 1tb hdd to my new 2tb HDD. Unfortunately, I hadn't realise that my mods installation directory set in the launcher was set on the old driver (D) so it was causing my mods not to be put in the right place, as the location no longer existed, but no error showed up, it just said waiting for steam. After rectifying the problem in the launcher settings, it seems to be working fine.

I put my hands up and accept it was all my fault, but can I suggest that some error message saying something on the lines of "mods installation directory not valid", I am sure it must have happened to other, but who is to tell. I apologise for wasting anyone's time.

Thanks,
Brad.
