For me it only took few seconds, i have GTX770, 12 Gb RAM and AMD FX-6100 so maybe you have a hardware/driver problems

Does this issue occur with both 32 and 64bit executables? Does the issue occur on both stable and experimental versions? Have you tried to verify the game cache integrity in Steam? Are you running the game with any launch parameters? Have you tried changing the video settings to check if it has any effect on the behaviour of the issue? And can you try to remove the contents of your C:\Users\*username*\Documents\DayZ and let us know if that had any effect on the issue?
