- Join a KOTH game from the arma 3 launcher.
- Select "setup mods and join" on dialog.
- After the mission file is downloaded, press continue to join a team.
- Wait for the spawn screen in KOTH with weapon selection.
- 5 seconds pass, then crash occurs. Game exits to crash reporter.
Something on the system triggers the crash after a change, but I'm not sure what. A fresh install seems to work for a while. RPT doesn't give many clues. Possibly related to TrackIR as I activated that and since then the game constantly crashes no matter if trackir is running or not.
- Tried verifying the game from the steam application. It finds no faults.
- Tried resetting the language to english from spanish. No change, although I did find errors related to spanish in an RPT, hence the test.
- Tried reinstalling the game from steam. It fixes the game for a short while.
- Updated the nvidia drivers. No change.
- Tried deleting the mission files so it would download again in case they were corrupt. No change.
- Changed launcher to verify files on launch. No change, no apparent fault detected.

This happens on join to Altis life randomly picked from the ingame server browser as well. The issue is not related to specifically KOTH or launching the server directly from the launcher.
Also, the game can be started and I can start the 3d editor.
And now it worked for some reason. I'll update whenever it starts crashing randomly again.
I'm going to add servers which make me crash in case it's related to that.

Hello.
Yes, this error is a bit generic. Try re-installing DirectX or uninstalling the Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable package (both x86 and x64 version), restart your computer and install the package again (do not use the Repair function).
You can also run a Windows System File Check tool to repair corrupted system files.
If that doesn't help please send us the most latest logs from the game and we will have a look at it.
- Reinstalled Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable, both 32 and 64-bit.
- SFC /scannow finds nothing wrong.
- Rebooted
Dumps and rpt from crash are provided in the earlier post.
Problem still occurs.
Could be a hardware/driver issue.
I have a Steelseries Arctis 7 wireless headset. When this is set as default out/in for sound it consistently crashes the game with access violation.
When I set default out/in to my other scarlett 2i4 sound interface it does not crash.
The headset works with other games. No problems except that it renders audio controls in red orchestra 2 vietnam immutable. I.e they're set to lowest and whatever you do it doesn't change the volume with ingame controls.
So I'm speculating that it's a read/write issue with the usb soundcard that accompanies the headset. If arma 3 + RO2:V is doing an illegal read or the headset is handling it incorrectly I do not know. Maybe that information is available in the dump? Either way it would be useful if I knew this, considering I might raise a ticket with Steelseries support.
I'm not sure how to proceed. Please advise.
I think I've isolated the cause.
Steelseries Arctis 7 wireless headset presents two audio outputs. One is called "Steelseries Arctis 7 Chat" and the other one is called "Steelseries Arctis 7 Game". From the settings or the naming nothing about them differs, but the output of the chat-device is notably worse and doesn't respond to settings in terms of equalizers or dolby stuff and so on. This device when set as standard output in windows will always crash the game.
When I use the game-device however, the game does not crash.
So they've done something weird with the drivers, enabling some lower capacity device to be set as audio output. The intention according to Steelseries is to enable a chat mix button, where you can scroll on the headset to switch between chat and game audio, or somewhere in between. I.e the "standard device for communication" versus the "standard device" and a slider to select which one is the most audible.
The issue is resolved for me personally, but this should probably go into a knowledgebase at Bohemia somewhere since Steelseries is a very popular gaming brand in the Nordic markets.
Thank you for the information and your findings, we really appreciate the effort.
We will have a look at this problem in detail.
