Sorry about not getting back to you quickly.
I managed to solve the issue by changing the memory allocator from system to something like tbb44.
The issue came about because I was fiddling with the launch options to increase my performance.
The game hasn't crashed since I changed the malloc and I did get somewhat of a performance boost.
And we all lived happily ever after!
