Car doesn't despawn (When their health is 0)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I found a car which doesn;t drive anymore even when all items are attached.

I found out that cars have their built-in health and when it hits 0, they won't be able to drive anymore....

Now, my question is... How do they despawn and respawn as a useable car... because this needs to happen... If not, all cars will be dead within a couple of days.

It has been in the same position for a loooooong time now.

It has items in it, and tires etc. attached.

Hello MrKirby and thank you for the report.
By "They wont be able to drive", do you mean that you cannot start the engine at all or that the engine can be started but the vehicle cannot be driven?
Regards,
Geez

I am unable to start the engine. In another post on this website you stated that cars have independent health. When that is at 0 they won't be able to drive no matter what. This happened to a car I found and I was wondering if I can fix it or let it despawn....

PS: Every single vehicle tends to steer a little left (or right) without doing anything. Not sure if this is intedned (all pristine wheels) (Sedan, Offroad and V3S for sure)

The destroyed vehicles cannot be fixed any more, therefore you should let them despawn. In case you have an issue with a particular vehicle not despawning, despite its engine being destroyed (vehicle cannot be started), can you try to shoot the engine area several times and let us know in case the vehicle still did not despawn?

As for the steering issue, the issue is related to the desynchronisation between the server and the client and we are working on fixing the issue.

How long should this take? Does one need to be emptied? The car has been here for 2 days, I have hit the car for over 5 minutes with a firefighter axe and then went through 60+ scorpion shots on the car. It hasn't despawned (yet). I just want to know the facts of car despawning...

REQUEST:
I know it is the intention that cars spawn fully prepared for testing purposes. Although this does mean that everyone who finds a car will drive untill it crashes... I have found an insane amount (6) of crashed vehicles from running from Cherno to Tisy is a "Straight" (by road) line. This shouldn't be... This problem plus the despawning is weird... Makes it that cars have never been this rare. (And the insane desync issues, but when I have the vid done, I'll post that for another thread).

Hello MrKirby.
In todays experimental patch we have released a hotfix for the issue. Now you should be able to destroy vehicles by approaching them with matchbox item in hands and using an action to destroy them.

This is amazing, I will test this out within an hour! Amazing and thanks for making a workaround for the problem! (I really am amazed) Thanks!!
