Arma 3 Randomly Crashing After Joining Servers
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

So Arma 3 basically stops working when joining a server. It usually happens when it's the second or third time you're joining the same server. If I keep waiting on the loading screen (after a very long time) I can notice I get kicked by 'BattlEye: Client Not Responding'. If I try to forcibly close the game I get the crash message. It's either 'UNABLE_TO_INIT_DXGI' or 'APPLICATION_HUNG'.

I checked that with a few other friends and they seem to be facing the same thing occasionally. It does happen in different servers as well.

For some reason the files didn't come up. I'll try to upload them again, and then I'll check the solutions I have tested.

Things I've tried so far:

• Update the graphics card drivers to a newer version
• Rollback the graphics card drivers to an older version
• Check the temperature of your GPUs and CPUs
• Verify the integrity of the game cache using Steam

Hello,

try to set default memory allocator and try to launch game without parameters.

Maybe these advices will help resolve your problem.

The game is unable to initialize a graphical subsystem. Possible solutions:

Update the graphics card drivers to a newer version.
Rollback the graphics card drivers to an older version.
Check the temperature of your GPUs and CPUs.
Disable the Steam Overlay.

Thanks for report

Hi, @Alwin!

Isn't tbb4malloc_bi already the default allocator? It seems to be one of the few memory allocators that allow me to play Arma 3 without what we usually call 'memory leaks' (when we get those 4 FPS all of a sudden). The other parameters were activated by Arma 3's recommended optimization thread, so I could get a better performance in-game. I'll try that anyway.

I've also tried all of the possible solutions mentioned above, except the Steam Overlay (still, I don't see how this can be helpful).

Thank you!

Hi, @BlackShot

there are another 2 allocs (jemalloc_bi and windows default) so try them if you can. Can I ask you for some dumps? We have just your RPT and If we have to resolve your problem we need crash dumps.

Thank you

Hi,

I could be wrong, but it seems like default settings are somehow interfering with the crashes I used to face, in a good way. However, my game performance and 'memory leaks' seem to have increased.

I will gladly provide you any crash dumps. Just point me where to find them (I thought the zip files already included dumps).

Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, it seems like the game never got to generate those dump files. I always had to forcibly close the game using the task manager (when it took too long to respond/work). After doing so, Arma 3 crash window appeared. Because of that reason I don't think it ever got to create dumps.

Hi again,

I´m sorry but you didn´t mentioned use of Troubleshooting tool via Launcher. If you did, please sent us that created file.
Launcher>Options>Prepare Arma 3 troubleshooting report. The tool includes both file types (.rpt,.mdump,.bidump)

Thank you

Hi,

A few posts ago I've attached all the .zip files. They were all generated from the launcher troubleshooting tool. But no problem. Here they are again:

Oh, sry I didn´t notice them.

But I can´t see crash dumps there, just reports.

Thank you

Exactly. Launcher didn't generate any dumps. Is there anything I can do?

Hi,

Launcher doesn´t generate crash by itself. Crash report is pulled out from your root Arma 3 folder. Try to check your root.

I wonder if this problem will also be present at 64 bits version. Any ETA on when it's gonna be released to the general public (stable)?

Hello again,

I´ve got idea, try to switch your game from stable on public internal dev branch.

Next, try to gain some crash dumps from you PC. It´s very important for us to resolve your problem.

Very thanks
