DayZ changes render resolution when the game is closed. Causes mouse-delay ingame. [EXP 0.61]
Need More Info, NormalPublic

Description

I've been experiencing a mouse-delay issue on experimental 0.61 recently and from what i've heard, many other have aswell. It's an issue that's not currently on stable. (playing with the exact same video and control settings on both versions)
Nothing i tried when changing video and control settings seemed to fix the mouse-delay issue on experimental, except for one thing.

I went to Documents\DayZ and opened the DayZ.cfg file. I noticed that "Render_W" and "Render_H" was set to a much higher resolution than "Resolution_W" and "Resolution_H"
I changed it so it matched my default resolution and then started the game again, and the problem was fixed.

Now the problem is that it's not possible to change the render resolution in-game on experimental 0.61, but it's possible to do on the stable version. Also, sometimes when i quit experimental 0.61 the render resolution changes back to a much higher than my screen resolution, when i go to check the DayZ.cfg file again.

It would be great if the cause of this problem was fixed before the experimental version is pushed to stable. Also re-adding the option to change the render resolution in-game would not harm anyone.

Thanks, Tubleros

Steps To Reproduce

Join a DayZ experimental 0.61 server. Notice that there is no option to change the render resoloution, which is possible on the stable version.
Go to Documents\Dayz and open the DayZ.cfg file. Changing "Render_W" and "Render_H" to a higher value than you have set on "Resolution_W" and "Resolution_H" will cause a mouse-delay ingame. Changing "Render_W" and "Render_H" so it matches your resolution on "Resolution_W" and "Resolution_H" will fix the mouse-delay issue.

Hello Tubleros and thank you for the report.
The Render_W and Render_H do not affect the rendering resolution in game as they are used for different purpose in the cfg file. Has the issue stopped to occur once you have changed the cfg file yourself or does it keep returning? If so, can you try to remove all the cfg and .DayZProfile files and let us know if that has any effect on the issue? As for the option to change rendering resolution in game, the option has been removed from the game due to being obsolete, the rendering resolution is currently being adjusted automatically. Also, if you believe that lower resolution could improve your performance but the resolution is not available in the video settings, you can use the -disable3DRatioCheck, however use the parameter at your own risk as it can result in offset user interface and similar issues.

Geez

the rendering resolution is currently being adjusted automatically

Problem still appears. Just sart DayZ, minimize it, bring it back or use ALT+ENTER.... the resolution scalke changes it self to a totally wrong value.

Hello dGuy.
As i have mentioned above, the render_H and render_W values do not affect the in game settings at all. Are you also experiencing performance issues similar to the reporter of this ticket?

Geez

Doesn't seem to work now after the build hit stable. It's very strange, it feels as if im playing with low mousesmoothing even though i'm not, there is a slight delay when i look around with my mouse it's really quite irritating. Didn't have this issue on the last stable build and that's what annoys me. The whole feel is just alot more clunky and running into a building to loot has never been more painful..

I can only hope that this issue gets more reports so it gets fixed, I can't be the only one experiencing this right?

Hello Tubleros.
Has removing the contents of C:\Users\*username*\Documents\DayZ changed anything about behaviour of the issue? (As in, are you experiencing the mouse delay even upon removal of the cfg / dayzprofile files?) Are you running the game with any startup parameters? And can you try to update your video drivers and let us know if that has changed anything about the behaviour of the issue?

Geez

Hello tomate.
The 3d resolution (rendering resolution) video option has been removed from the game due to being obsolete. The -disable3DRatioCheck startup parameter allows you to change your in game resolution (In video settings under the "User Interface:" ) to other resolutions which are not supported and would not normally be available in the selection.

Hello tomate.
Which resolutions are available to you when you do not use the disable3dratiocheck launch parameter? And do you enter the -Disable3DRatioCheck into the launch options in Steam?(Open Steam, right click on DayZ, properties, set launch options and copy the command in there). As for the rendering resolution, unfortunately it cannot be changed manually any more due to the changes in the game.

Geez

Hello tomate.
Can you check if the parameter works for you on the current stable version?
Regards,
Geez

i double checked and is not working

Hello tomate.
The parameter has been disabled on the current versions due to compatibility issues and unfortunately will not be present in the game in the future.

Geez
