APEX Assets Kick clients on Stratis without DLC, or sometimes assets are invisible
New, NormalPublic

Description

I'm not sure how this can be considered resolved.

Assets for vehicles/weapons are downloaded to APEX non-owners, otherwise they would see people floating down the road.

So I am APEX owner shooting at someone through a Pillbox... and its ok for a non-owner to walk through the structure and kill me?

If the server has enabled BattlEye, Apex non-owners are supposed to be kicked from the server if it uses Apex structure assets.
Tanoa and its structures are exclusive for Apex owners only and placing these assets into different map does not change that.

and its ok for a non-owner to walk through the structure and kill me?

Did this happen on a BE protected server?

Yes it happens on BattleEye protected servers.

If the asset is placed directly in Mission.sqm then the players get kicked with a wrong signature error consistently.

However, if an asset is created via createVehicle it does not have the same behavior. Sometimes it kicks, but most of the time players just don't know the structures are supposed to be there because they are invisible. Collision detection appears to still work on bullets, but players can walk through the assets if they don't own APEX.

Easy solution is to make these assets available to all clients. Most of the people I play with have APEX, but we are forced to not use new assets because of a small percentage of people that don't have APEX. As a server owner I would even pay BIS so that non-owners could see the assets while on my server. That is how frustrating this has become. This is 50% programming issue and 50% sales/executive issue.

Someone at your company had the bright idea to allow APEX assets on Stratis to begin with, now even people who own only the original game get screwed. They either get kicked with no explanation or they don't even know they are missing map objects. You're not getting more support tickets because people keep trying to verify their file integrity in steam or just because they wouldn't know assets are missing. A brilliant way to annoy everyone.

The least someone could do is create a specific error that tells the people getting kicked they need the DLC to see specific assets. Otherwise as centrifugal said they'll never know and keep verifying their game in hopes it might work or think it's some kind of bug and just give up. Although I don't think putting minimal effort into this problem is going to make anyone happy.

Before an entrance on the server, you don't see what are necessary to DLC or MOD ?

If a building from APEX is used in a mission on another map does it automatically put that DLC on the list?

Also isn't it on every server that all DLCs are in the required box? Since the APEX weapons and vehicles can exist without interfering with non-APEX players. So basically Lex your point is invalid in this situation.

It would be nice to get this bug fixed.

On our server there is DLC Apex objects, weapon and cars as a part of the Altis card.
In the list of the required additions there is DLC Apex.
But as not all have this addition, on the server strict check on MOD is turned off, it allows players to play without DLS on the server. Lack of check is bad for all too, players can use the forbidden MOD.
For players without DLC Apex, the message in a game has to be realized - "you can't use this object....", as it has been made in former DLC.
Lack of such realization, inclusion of strict check of MOD of many causes the necessity. It makes protection of players with DLC Apex from collisions in a game against players without DLC Apex, emergence of problems of Stels vision.
I don't welcome such realization of DLC from BIS as it razedinyat people on players from DLS and players without DLS.
All have to see APEX objects, use them могкт only owners of DLC.
Too I hope that it will be corrected. Otherwise loss of players because of inclusion of strict check on MOD is necessary to us to exclude use of the forbidden MOD.

Wouldn't it be funny if the APEX non-owners didn't see vehicle assets as well. Every time someone drives in a new vehicle they would just see players in a seated position floating through the air.

I'm a senior software developer, so I know this part isn't the programmers fault. I see stupid decisions like this get made by the business all the time. I'd bet real money that someone on the dev team told management this was a bad idea, and they went ahead and excluded prop assets anyway. Now we have this game breaking "Expected behavior". I use that line all the time too.

Razazel needs to go round up all the executives and slap them. Shame on you BIS.
