Pretty straight forward. put item in your hands, drag it to your hotbar so its green highlighted, log off, log on.. its not in your hotbar any more.
put something on your hotbar (say rags) put it in your first aid kit, put it in your protector case, log off log on, it disappears from your hotbar. item still where it should be in the first aid kit.
