I've had this happen a few times as well. The most recent was today when I switched to experimental branch (0.59.131121) on steam and logged in to what I assume was a new character.

I dont think thats just the newui. I had this happen to me first time logging onto any server on stable with oldui 100% of the time. If you just suicide youll spawn with clothes and it wont happen again on that particular server.

Yes, when you join a new hive database for the first time your client won't be able to view the equipped gear.
The clothing is there though. When you pick up items that can fit into a new spawns pants for example they will be hidden in your inventory.
Relogging or respwning fixes the problem. Until you connect to a new hive. A private server you haven't been on for example.
