You can carry large amounts of gear by:

1. Create fireplace kit.
2. Add any item(s) to fireplace kit up to 15 slots.
3. Place fireplace kit in inventory which requires 4 slots.

Note that another loaded fireplace kit may also be placed inside fireplace kit allowing for theoretically infinite number of inventory space.
