Disabled mic results in no direct comm audio or text
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I can not see people communicating with me in direct communication text and I can't hear them talking to me over direct communication voice. A solution that was recommended to me was to activate my microphone even if I wasn't going to use it.

I have a laptop with a built in microphone that was damaged and does not currently register within my windows environment and as a result I cannot enable one.

As a result, it is my belief that other people who have disabled microphones (for whatever reason) are unable to see others direct chat and text communications.

Steps To Reproduce

Disable microphone on computer. Get someone to type in direct comms to you. Get them to talk over direct voice chat to you.

All of this will obviously be well within your speaking range. Best to do with a friend directly in front of you.

Additional Information

All of my other sounds work without any trouble... and I can see my own text in the direct chat window (/). I can also confirm that my friends can see my text though I can't hear or see their replies.
