Seems that you cannot make a fireplace in a building, when standing in a floor above ground.

Steps To Reproduce

Go to a construction building, go upstairs to third floor.
Make a firekit place and leave it on the floor
Take 5 sticks on to the firekit place.
Firekit place and sticks disappear

Happened again and again until I decided to go downstairs and out of the construction building. There I could make a Fireplace and turn it into a furnace correctly.

I haven't tried in any other building.

Yup. The fireplace falls through the ground.

Confirmed. Can't say it "falls through the ground". If so, then probably right to the ground. Could never find it in the building I was in.
