Servers randomly getting hung at "Wait For Host"
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Not exactly sure what is causing this but within the past few days my serevrs will randomly get hung up. When clients try to login they get "Wait For Host".

Last one happened on 119.252.190.93:2702 on Sunday 7th Dec about 12:44pm AESDT.

Also happening on our other servers as well.

119.252.189.163:2802 AU
23.250.112.194:2702 US
23.250.112.194:2902 US
All Vilayer servers.

The problem can happen when there's a full server or not and it is random. Something to do with vehicles perhaps?

When it gets hung we have to manually restart the servers. If it is a known bug is there an ETA on a fix?

Also just started happening to me. The server I was in got reset. I left the server and attempted to join another server. Got stuck on the Wait for Host screen until it said connection timed out or couldn't connect to host or something like that. I checked my firewall and it's completely accepted by it. I even turned it off so I don't think it's anything to do with my computer or internet connection. Can't join any servers at the moment. Been sitting here trying every server with lower than a 50 ping and I literally can't join a single one of them. I don't know what could have happened.

Hi JMan,

This doesn't seem to be a known or general issue with game servers. Have you been in contact with your GSP regarding this issue?

JStewart

No I have not but generally with something like this they pass the buck and tell me to go to BI. Hence why I came here first.

This hang is happening a lot with my Vilayer servers. As you can see I have 4 servers in different locations and they all do this. Some more than others.

So am I getting here, that it is a Vilayer issue?

Jman added a comment.Dec 8 2014, 9:50 PM

I have submitted a ticket to Vilayer and awaiting a response. Will submit their reply when I get it.

Nobody else is having issues with their servers hanging?

Jman added a comment.Dec 9 2014, 12:31 PM

I have received a response from Vilayer and basically they have said that nothing is wrong on their end. Ticket #253973

So where does this go to now?

I do know that my servers are getting hung up and I do have to manually restart them or wait until the 4 hour auto restart. I also know this is happening multiple times a day.

If not clear enough, these servers are in 2 separate locations, 2 in the US(Public) and 2 in AU(Private Shards).

So, if it's not a BI issue and it's not a Vilayer issue, who's issue is it?

If the GSP states nothing is wrong on their end, we'll perform an investigation from here. How often do your servers crash approximately?

I would say at least once within a 4hr period between restarts, the worst being the AU ones. This one especially is being problematic and is the worst of them 119.252.190.93:2702

But they all will hang at certain points just some more than others.

Just happened on this server 119.252.189.163:2802 AU @ 11:59pm AESDT. Wednesday with 20 people on the server.
People could move around on the server but they could not pick up items or move items in their inventory.
If they logged out and then back in they would get "Wait for Host". I then had to restart the server manually.

Same thing happened on this server 119.252.190.93:2702 AU @ 00:59:47am AESDT.
Thursday morning with 44 players on the server.

Happened on this server 23.250.112.194:2902 US around 15:30pm AESDT Thursday. With 9 players on the server.

Again on this server 119.252.190.93:2702 AU @ 18:22:30 AESDT Thursday. With 43 players on it.

vehicles which are destroyed or highly damaged and then are interacted with seem to cause this issue.

Jman added a comment.Dec 11 2014, 8:41 AM

Really? I thought vehicles could not be damaged at this point in time.

Thanks for that bit of info JMan. Can you confirm if this is indeed the case?

I have not yet reproduced this issue solo. It may have to do with multiple people in the area, which I am going to try next.

When it happened there was a group of us standing around in Gorka. I will post my findings.

Jman added a comment.Dec 17 2014, 12:33 AM

I have found that it does crash the server when a group of people are within the same area.

It doesn't always happen but it can crash the server from what I have tested.

Would it be possible for you to upload a video of the servers crashing when these conditions are met?
