DayZ crashing about 10 seconds after I have joined a server or even at startup. How do I fix it?
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I have reported this earlier with no respons, so here I go again.

So, I have not been able to play for several months now because of this crashing issue. Does anyone know what causes it? As the title says, it crashes in about 10 seconds after I join a server. The most I have been able to play is like half a minute before crashing, and some times it wont even start at all. So, I would love some help! Neither experimental or vanilla is working. Reinstalling and tweakin the config files does not work.

Hello,

please send us a dxdiag report and files from this folder: "C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\DayZ\"

If the *.rar is smaller than 5.000KB, you can attach it here.
In case it's larger than that, please try uploading it to a file sharing website and link it here.

For future reports please refer to the "How to guide" http://feedback.dayzgame.com/how-to-user.html

Thank you.

I have now attached the files, ignore the first zip file as the one called "DayZ Files.zip" is the correct one and not "DayZfiles.zip".

I'll try out the new experimental patch now, I just have to download it first. Reporting back soon!

EDIT: Experimental crashes on startup.

Hi unTamed,
thank you for the files. We will take a look - in the meanwhile, please try the following:

  • making sure your drivers are up to date (especially graphic card)
  • verifying integrity of the game cache (Steam Library - Rightclick on DayZ - Properties - Local Files - Verify Integrity of Game Cache)
  • running both Steam and DayZ as administrator

If either of those help, please let me know.
Thank you,
Andy

I tried both two of the beta drivers for AMD, the current release and two of the old drivers. None of them worked.

Running both Steam and DayZ as an admin did not help, neither did veryfing integrity of the game cache.

Thanks for helping out though! Hope we will be able to fix my problem.

I figured it out!

BitDefender (anti-virus) caused the game to crash. I uninstalled it and the game now works.

Was this causing the game to crash to desktop but still be running? I am getting CTD and I am still able to move around while looking at desktop.

Well I can't move around, I can only hear the ingame sound. It only frooze.

Ok this is the same thing that just started happening to my since new patch. Game willfreeze, go black and video will crash to desktop buti still have sound and I can still move around and stuff. Try opening the game and leave it on the server browser screen. I crash there as well after about 2 mins
