Your character is able to pick up a Fireplace Kit with any number of Stones still attached to it, as well as other 1x1 items. While still taking up 4 slots in your Inventory, the Fireplace Kit can have up to 8 Stones attached to it at any time, and up to five 1x1 items.
This allows a character to deploy a Fireplace with all the Stones in it, without needing to harvest them after placing the Fireplace Kit on the ground.

Fireplace storage container. My friend and I began to see that fireplaces/fire kits carried over in persistent servers and we saw that some items were inside of the fireplaces/fire kits. So we tested it out and put most of our items inside of some fire kits that we made and hopped on the next day. The items stayed in fire places as we had hoped (maybe a good fix for the world containers implementation).
On a hunch, I noticed that I could place fire kits into my inventory. As you know, Fire its takes up 4 slots in your inventory and holds 15 slots on it. I wanted to test if I could place another fire kit loaded with items into an empty fire kit and place that one into my inventory. It turns out that you can.
