Build 61.136541 64 bit DayZ client
Fresh spawn with little to no gear, I found a hatchet and attempted to put it in my hands. I did not have a pack or clothing that would hold it. The hatchet never appeared in my hands and remained on the ground. Just after that I went to a apple tree and it gave me the option to cut branch or bark like the hatchet was still in my hand. I used the "G" key to throw, the throw animation completed and I was then able to search for apples.

It seemed to be the servers, as they were up and down often on Friday. Additionally, they are working on the exp. build today as well and I was providing the log data incase it would help resolve, as I connected multiple times while the servers were going up and down.

Just add an exclusion for the game exe and you should be able to re-enable it... at least try anyway. You should do the same for your steam directory for AV, it helped my FPS tremendously.
