I just updated my display driver and still crashing.
However, I did find a Windows 10 Update waiting for a restart. DirectX updates through Windows Updates. I restarted and Arma 3 singleplayer launched without mods. I had no sound but my audio adapter for usb headset tested okay,

I tried starting without mods and got the same crash.

There was a pop-up prior to the crash.

The crash code was 0x0000DEAD

I Agree that it is related to 0005182. So, I'd extend that the issue is not only a glitch when trying to enter as Pilot, but at ANY position in the Helicopter. Also, with my glitch, I did not move with Helicopter, but was immobile at helipad. It would be interesting to test what happens when person IN the vehicle slot, disembarks the vehicle. Would the "stuck" character move to the slot (in-game) or at least become mobile again.

I attempted to board a crowded helicopter, I was given option to ride in back, selected it, but I suspect that someone took the slot. Perhaps a database record-locking issue? Meanwhile, I was stuck in the sitting pose on the heli pad as the chopper took off. No amount of stance-change key strokes could get me to change stance. I could rotate using my mouse, but no other movement.
