You and I, and the others all paid for an alpha. Not a beta, an alpha, something that will have bugs that we, right now, are reporting so the final release will be a better experience for all whom have the game. It's been assigned and they're working on it, so have some patience.

You need to attach a file with the crash report so they can see what's going on. Look at the top right corner of the page, the guide will show you how to do it.

Oh wow, I was just about to make a report about the exact same problem. I'm also running Windows 8, 64 bit. This always happens no matter what I've tried. The -nobenchmark doesn't work either.
