That's a much more useful answer.
I understand my concerns are common and I understand loot economy but the loot in Dayz is very much a economy in that there is no other way to gauge your characters progress. I notice that the Dayz plans for 2015/16 are to include a award/progress system but until that is implemented the value of the loot available servers as an incentive and if after covering the whole map, visiting high traffic/risk areas and only have low value items to show for it.
I also always hear that Dayz is a survival game not MIL sim and that may be the goal when it is eventually released but at the moment the rarity of items means that finding the equipment needed to farm, fish, cook etc means that surviving from a sustainable sustainance perspective is pretty much scavanging buildings for cans, the survival element of the game right now is defending your character from zombies and other players and to do that you need weapons and as a result is essentially an arms race so dayz is both a survival game and a shooter endless of the developers intentions.
When camping, fishing, hunting farming are implemented and achievements awards are provide incentive it will be a true survival game, until then it's a free-for-all.
Darcion - If Dayz was offered free to players so the developers could hammer out the bugs then yes we shouldn't play it if we think it's a waste of time but we are not playing for free, we all payed market rate for a game that at the time of purchase was fun despite the low performance and bug issues but the thing that makes the game fun is collecting items, crafting new items and exploring the map but if items have become so rare that you are likely to die or have you character re-set before finding anything decent then the incentive element is lost.
Don't get me wrong, I love the game and think the developers are doing a great job with the rate that new features are being added, I just suggest they don't forget the point of the game.
A final note - this is a feedback forum, feedback that can be used by the developers to better understand the game experience from a players perspective and for players to point out issues and bugs the developers. The feedback can sometimes be negative, even but still serves as a useful insight. Your advice serves no purpose unless you were hoping to be congratulated on your quick wit in which case you would be better off on the Dayz facebook page where I'm sure you would gain a few likes.
Most Chinese public servers kick all players except friends and constantly re-start servers so they can loot best items, this is against host server rules. Can't have it both ways, can't expect developers to be considerate of the Chinese if the Chinese aren't considerate of the server rules...
DAYZ – SERVER HOSTING RULES – PUBLIC HIVE | 10.14
Most current Public Hive server hosting rules:
Unacceptable usage of DayZ Servers (Also known as the “Don’t” list)
*You may not perform the following actions on your server
- Restart server to farm loot
- Restart server to protect your character integrity after dying
- Kick/Ban players without just cause
- Lock / Password the server
There should be an option to report/contact the server in the server details window or at least implement something that serves as a deterrent...
