Sometimes items will appear invisible in the inventory. Trying to add items to a certain spot that appears empty is not possible. Dragging an item to the backpack or article of clothing and letting it place itself will cause it to avoid the invisible spot as well. Sometimes logging off and on again will make random items appear such as ruined drinks.

The problem of having invisible items is around for some time already, workaround:
drop the backpack/pants/jacket/whatever to the ground (better do it outside, not inside buildings where it could glitch through the floor) and take it back, that "should" reset the inventory slots so you can see and remove the buggy item...
