DayZ.exe attempting to run bcedit.exe
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

After logging onto DE Experimental HC server, an alert from one of my anti-virus programs stated that DayZ.exe was attempting to run bcedit.exe. This was after DayZ.exe attempted to access memory for the anti-virus program and after a UDP request was sent from a German IP address (presumably the server). Upon blocking the action, and returning to the game after alt-tabbing to investigating the alerts, a 'game session lost due to BattleEye (client not responding)' message was present.

Question: why is Dayz.exe attempting to access/run a program that, based upon investigation at MSDN, is responsible for boot options management?

It has been exactly one month with no comment at all on this issue. As this is a very serious issue from my viewpoint as the game, and more than likely BattleEye, is calling a function that it should not, then any/all updates are both welcome and warranted.

Hi,

this is a normal behaviour of BE and is completely acceptable. BE is checking the integrity of your system and thereby also checks boot options of your machine. There are no parameters set for the process therefore the file is not modified in any way, it is only "looked at". You have nothing to worry about and can allow BE access to the file.
