What do you think should happen? This is a likely necessary side-effect of the response to combat logging.

Thank you for the added note. However, I feel this is a little different than the other post someone made about logging out AFTER they have been handcuffed which I agree the character should be reset. This is an issue for being handcuffed AFTER the player has clicked the disconnect button. It originally occurred due to friends messing around with handcuffs thinking the person would just log back in with the handcuffs on. This could be used for griefing though. You see someone logging out, or know someone is logging out, you can quickly run up behind their character and throw handcuffs on them. This will force them to respawn with no gear and they would have no idea as to why this happened because they disconnected from the server with no issues. I am not sure how this should, or even could, be fixed / changed but I just wanted to make sure the devs were aware this could happen to someone AFTER they have disconnected from the server.

Well that's true and I see what you're getting at, but idle/logging-out characters can be shot, axed, killed by a zed, etc as a legitimate part of the game to prevent combat logging. Hand-cuffing is just one of these several things that will kill/reset a character as a part of this system.

It's up to us to make sure no one is around to see us log out because whether they shoot us, ax us, or handcuff us the result is same...we end up on the coast with nothing.

Thanks iBane! When you put it like that it does seem to make sense that it is working as intended.

Happy to help! Check those corners and wait before logging out ;)

There's still the issue with this mechanic that no body is left when the combat-log entity leaves the world.

I have a post about the issues with this mechanic (#0009324) if any dev's are passing by.

I can confirm that after my friend disconnected, I handcuffed them and the character disappeared even though I was rummaging through their inventory.

Player body despawn is still being worked on.

This topic is a security feature, no bug ;D
We shot one down, use handcuffs, i would like to use bandage to help him stop bleeding and he logs out.
In this case its good that he died because that can not be the gameplay (logging off to escape)
